Histopathological characteristics of neodymium-YAG laser iridotomy in the human eye.

چکیده
Light and electron microscopic studies of YAG laser iridotomies were performed in two human iridectomy specimens. Full-thickness defects were created and showed stromal and vascular necrosis. The light and electron microscopic configuration of the lesions was compatible with mechanical disruption from shockwaves. Thermal changes were absent in contrast to iridotomies created by argon laser photocoagulation.

Neodymium-YAG laser iridotomy in angle closure glaucoma: preliminary study.
A prospective short-term preliminary clinical study to evaluate the efficacy and immediate complications of Q-switched Nd-YAG laser iridotomy in the treatment of acute and chronic angle closure glaucoma is described. The follow-up period ranged from four to 10 months. Of 40 eyes treated 36 (90%) required a single lasing session for patency (19, one application; 17, two applications), and four e...
متن کاملPupillary block following posterior chamber intraocular lens implantation in adults.
BACKGROUND Pupillary block rarely occurs after cataract extraction with posterior chamber intraocular lens implantation. METHODS A series of six patients (seven eyes) treated for pupillary block after posterior chamber intraocular lens implantation between 1990 and 2001 is described; in one eye, the attack occurred after phacoemulsification. RESULTS The interval between pupillary block deve...
متن کاملComparison of laser iridotomy using short duration 532-nm Nd: YAG laser (PASCAL) vs conventional laser in dark irides.
AIM To evaluate the outcome of laser iridotomy using 532-nm Nd: YAG laser (PASCAL) with short pulse duration and Nd: YAG laser compared to conventional combined laser iridotomy. METHODS Retrospective, nonrandomized, comparative case series. Forty-five eyes of 34 patients underwent laser iridotomy. Twenty-two eyes underwent iridotomy using short duration PASCAL and Nd: YAG laser, and 23 eyes u...
متن کاملClearing of corneal argyrosis by YAG laser.
A 75-year-old woman with corneal argyrosis was treated by a Q-switched Nd-YAG laser iridotomy after acute angle closure glaucoma. Each laser shot caused clearance of the argyrotic deposits anterior to the iridotomy site. The same effect was seen when a preventive iridotomy was performed in the other eye. The areas of clear cornea remained unchanged for a follow-up period of eight months.
متن کاملIntralenticular haemorrhage complicating pulsed laser iridotomy.
Correspondence Intralenticular haemorrhage complicating pulsed laser iridotomy SIR, The pulsed laser has recently been described as a 'non-surgical' means of producing a peripheral iridotomy. The complications of this procedure have been reviewed' and include iritis, pigment dispersion, haemorrhage, transient elevation of intraocular pressure, corneal or lens damage, lack of patency of the irid...
